Federal popular vote, nationwide, four proposals set by the Federal Council: (1) federal decree of 19 June 2026 on additional financing of old-age and survivors' insurance (AHV/AVS) through a VAT increase of 0.4 percentage points, about CHF 1.4 billion a year, from 2028 at the earliest; a VAT increase must go to the vote; (2) popular initiative 'For a restriction on fireworks' (bans the sale and private use of noisy fireworks); (3) popular initiative 'Yes to fair federal taxes for married couples, finally ending discrimination against marriage!' (joint taxation of spouses for the direct federal tax); (4) amendment of 19 December 2025 to the War Materiel Act, put to the vote by referendum. The Federal Council and Parliament recommend yes to 1 and 4 and no to 2 and 3. Popular initiatives and the VAT decree need a majority of the people and of the cantons; the War Materiel Act amendment needs a majority of the people.
