First past the post, one member for each of the 124 electoral districts: 13 northern districts set out in the Representation Act, 2015 and 111 southern districts identical to the federal districts of the 2013 federal representation order (Representation Act, 2015, ss. 2-3). Ontario has had no fixed election date since 27 November 2025, when S.O. 2025, c. 15, Sched. 7 repealed s. 9 of the Election Act; an Assembly may continue at most five years from the polling day of its general election (Legislative Assembly Act, s. 3), and the Lieutenant Governor can dissolve it earlier on the Premier's advice. Polling day is the fifth Thursday after the writ (Election Act, s. 9.1(5)).
