Latest legal date: the council's five-year term runs from the last election (2024-04-22); Law 165/2004 art. 5 requires the new election within 60 days after the term ends, or on the Sunday in the following six days. Earlier dates are allowed and are usual; the actual date is set by decree of the President of the Region. Early dissolution would bring it forward.
