Government of Senegal in plain words

What it can't do

Ministers are named by the President of the Republic and serve at his pleasure. In May 2026 President Faye dismissed Prime Minister Sonko and the whole government; the new technocratic cabinet under Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo was set by decree on 1 June 2026. Pastef, which holds 130 of 165 Assembly seats, declined to join it.
