- State budget and taxation
The Riksdag decides taxes to the state and how state funds are used (Instrument of Government ch. 1 s. 4; ch. 9).
- Scrutiny of the Government
The Riksdag examines the Government and public administration and can declare that the Prime Minister or a minister no longer has its confidence (Instrument of Government ch. 1 s. 4; ch. 13 s. 4).
- Electing the Prime Minister
The Riksdag elects the Prime Minister on the Speaker's proposal (Instrument of Government ch. 6 ss. 3-4).
