- What it's for
-
The unicameral National Assembly makes laws, approves the budget, consents to treaties and key appointments, audits the government and can impeach officials. It has 300 members: 254 from constituencies and 46 from national party lists, elected for four years.
- What it can't do
-
Constitutional amendments passed by a two-thirds Assembly majority must be approved in a national referendum. The Assembly cannot be dissolved by the President. The Constitutional Court can strike down laws and decide impeachments (Arts. 40, 41, 65, 128-130).
