Makes its own laws for its lands and citizens in the areas set out in the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee Governance Agreement Act (S.C. 2018, c. 4, s. 2) and the Cree Constitution. The Indian Act no longer applies to most matters.

Decides who belongs to the First Nation under its own rules (Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee Governance Agreement Act (S.C. 2018, c. 4, s. 2) and the Cree Constitution).
